TRIBUTE TO A FRONTLINER

On Christmas eve and Christmas day, she was assigned to work on a graveyard shift, on a 12 hours basis. She was alone on her floor as her colleagues either went on vacation or contacted the COVID-19 virus. The instruction by her manager then was very emphatic, “do your best and be sure no one dies”.

Like a true warrior in the battlefield, she bravely answered the call of duty. She put herself at significant risk by showing up to work, but with genuine kindhearted concern for the well-being of her patients. She knew that Christmas time is a very important date to people, she could not allow not to bring joy and happiness to them; she wanted to offer comfort and support to these voiceless people. She didn’t mind even though there was an enemy raging on, the COVID-19. She had a duty to fulfill, a passion to follow.

New Year’s Eve came, while others were jumping in joy, celebrating with their family and friends, relishing their fancy meals, enjoying parties, here she was, alone in her room. She could not even hug or see her own daughter. She can not stand, her headache was very painful. She can not eat as she lost her appetite. She was tested positive.

Take care, my daughter. I am very proud of you.
